This is going to be a very exciting season!
The three
biggest titles in their genre - Strauss' Die Fledermaus, Lehárs Die lustige Witwe and Kálmáns Die Csárdásfürstin - have long been
at the heart of my repertoire and will yet again
take centre stage.
Starting
December, a new production of Die Fledermaus under the baton
of Intendant and GMD Stefan Soltesz, will see me
back at the Aalto-Musiktheater in Essen,
Germany. The staging is in the hands of Gil
Mehmert, Rosalinde will be sung by Viennese
soprano Alexandra Reinprecht. And of course
there is a performance planned for New Years
Eve!
Straight
after, I will return to the Tiroler
Landestheater in Innsbruck, Austria, for a new
production of Die lustige Witwe, staged by Thomas
Enzinger. Florian Erdl conducts, Eva Lind and
Christine Buffle alternate as merry widow Hanna
Glawari.
Come January,
my 5th production with the Nationale Reisopera
touring The Netherlands will be Monique
Wagemakers' praised staging of Verdi's La traviata, conducted by
Robbert van Steijn. Singing in one's home
country is always that little bit extra special.
With the political winds blowing as they are, I
will cherish every minute like it was the last,
as the future may not hold many treasures for
the Low Countries operatic life...
In March and
April, just 3 performances of Michael
Sturmingers very exciting and always selling out
staging of Die
Csárdásfürstin will be given at the
Aalto-Musiktheater in Essen.
After
engaging me for my first "Festvertrag" in
Braunschweig and trusting a young singer to sing
defining roles like Pelléas very early on, I am
especially proud and happy to be part of
Brigitte Fassbaenders last season as Intendant
of the Tiroler Landestheater. We will come full
circle with the world premiere of Shylock!, a musical by
Stephan Kanyar and Brigitte Fassbaender, based
upon Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice".
With Chris Murray as Shylock, Matthias
Stockinger as Bassanio, I will be portraying the
Venetian merchant Antonio, the composer will
conduct and Pierre Wyss is directing. The first
ever performance of this addition to the world
of musical theatre will coincide with my being
on stage for 25 years.
A very
exciting season indeed!
